Active Microsoft Viva Glint admin and dashboard users can access Viva Glint with a Microsoft Entra ID user account and an ACTIVE status in the Viva Glint app. Use this article to learn about supported internet browsers, access links, session timeouts, login troubleshooting, and dashboard experiences.
Important
To successfully access Viva Glint, users must:
- Exist in Microsoft Entra. Learn more about how Microsoft 365 Global Administrators or Entra admins can set up access to Viva Glint with Microsoft Entra ID.
- Invited support users (added as "Guests" in Microsoft Entra ID tenants) and users within a multitenant organization can use single sign-on (SSO) to access Viva Glint when they're assigned to a single Glint instance. Users that have access to more than one tenant, either as a support user or as part of a multitenant organization (MTO), need to select a domain when signing in.
- Exist in the Viva Glint instance with an "ACTIVE" employee status and membership to the Active Employees role.

Seamless Domain Discovery sign in
Seamless Domain Discovery (SDD) applies to support users or users in a multitenant organization that are added to a single Glint instance. SDD introduces automatic tenant discovery by using the ARM API when an MTO policy isn't configured.
- When users authenticate through Microsoft Entra ID, the system checks whether they have access to Viva Glint across multiple Microsoft tenants. If multiple instances are detected, the user is automatically routed to the first available Viva Glint instance based on the following order:
- Home tenant: typically the tenant where the user account is hosted, and where the Viva Glint instance is provisioned.
- MTO policy (if configured): A set of rules configured in a multitenant organization that governs how users synchronized across tenants access Viva Glint in other tenants within the organization.
- SDD via ARM API:
- If the system finds multiple provisioned tenants, it will redirect the user to the first discovered Viva Glint instance in which the user has an active user record.
Note
If a user wants to access another Viva Glint instance in a different tenant, they can continue to use the existing manual domain selection approach outlined below to authenticate themselves to that specific tenant.
Steps to access Viva Glint using SSD:
- Select the appropriate link for the organization's region:
- Select Sign-in options in the Sign in dialog.
- Enter your email and password, select Sign in, and follow other sign-on prompts (for example: multifactor authentication).
Domain selection sign in
Support users or users in a multitenant organization that are added to multiple organizations or multiple Glint instances should follow the following steps to sign into the desired Glint instance:
- Select the appropriate link for the organization's region:
- Select Sign-in options in the Sign in dialog.
- Select Sign in to an organization.
- Enter the domain name, for example:
contoso.onmicrosoft.com, of the organization you'd like to sign in to and select Next. - Enter your email and password, select Sign in, and follow other sign-on prompts (for example: multifactor authentication).
Tip
To prevent sign-in issues, try accessing Viva Glint in a new InPrivate or Incognito window.
Session timeout
Viva Glint sessions close after 30 minutes of inactivity. This mechanism helps protect sensitive data and ensures that sessions don't remain open indefinitely, which could pose security risks.
User experience:
- After 20 minutes of inactivity, an Are you still here? message displays.
- If there's no response to the initial message, the session automatically shuts down after another 10 minutes of inactivity.
Login issues
If users experience login issues or repeated logouts when accessing Viva Glint, review troubleshooting information for common access problems.
Dashboard experiences
Viva Glint Admins and dashboard users see different landing pages, or dashboards, in Viva Glint depending on their User Role and the role's settings. Learn more about dashboard experiences for Viva Glint roles.
