With Migration Manager, you can create "agent groups" and assign agents to them. Agent groups are considered an advanced feature and not commonly used by most users.
An Agent created in Migration Manager is assigned to the default location, and not to any other group. With the introduction of Agent Groups, you can assign one or more agents to a specific group. A group may represent a particular geographical location or other targeted purpose. Agent groups let you organize and prioritize your agents for a targeted purpose or regional goal.
What | Why |
---|---|
Multi-geo | Organize your agents to be dedicated to specific geographic regions. |
Network scenarios | Create agent groups to optimize for network conditions. |
Prioritize migration jobs | Create agent groups so you can assign tasks according to groups by their priority. |
Assessment planning | Organize your tasks to run in a group that is used for isolating jobs that you just want to scan for early assessment. |
Create an agent group
- From the Agents tab in Migration Manager, highlight an agent from the list. A side panel displays on the right side of the page.
- Under Agent group, select Edit.
- Select Add or remove agent groups.
- Enter a name for your new agent group. An agent group name can't exceed 255 characters.

- Select an agent group from the choices in the dropdown list.

Note
You can assign multiple agents to a single group. However, you can't assign the same agent to more than one group at this time.
Assign a task to an agent group
- Create an individual or bulk task as usual.
- After entering your Task name under Settings, select an agent group from the dropdown list.
- Select All settings to make certain they're set correctly for you. To learn more about specific settings, see Migration Manager settings.
- Select Run now. The task is added to the list waiting for the next available agent in that targeted group.
