Features Overview


This document provides an overview of Engage Center Connector features, detailed instructions for using them, and guidance for troubleshooting common issues. FAQs are included for quick answers.

How to - Features

  • Assessment Tile States: Displays status, Type, machine & recommendations.
  • View Results: Through the side panel including autoloading affected objects and a launch to the LA workbook to utilize Kusto queries.
  • Reports: Download Excel and PowerPoint reports for deeper analysis.
  • Collapse All: You collapse product group IP tiles and expand product groups IP that you want to focus on.

Assessment Tile States

Description: Our Assessment tiles have three states: Not Started, In Progress and Complete. We will let you know the metadata associated with both states and the expected results based on actions to get to each state.

How to steps: "Not started" status tile

You will see any tile that you have not acted on, On-Demand Assessment or Survey, in the Not Started status.

Expected Result:

You will see a tile that says, "Not started" for both Assessment and Survey tiles.

Tiles for Microsoft 365 Exchange Assessments and 365 Operational Survey

Not started status tile metadata:

  • Type – Assessment/Survey tag in the top left-hand corner
  • Status – Not started tag in the top right-hand corner
  • Assessment/Survey title with icon
    • Sub-Title – Showcases your next step
  • “I” Information button – Select the “I” to receive a description of the Assessment or Survey
  • Button
    • ODA – Add Details – By selecting this the right pane slides out for you to add your machine and Logging path
    • Survey – Take Survey – By selecting this the right pane slides out with the first question of the Survey

How to steps: "In Progress" status tile

  • Select “+ Add Details” button of a “Not started” tile or at the top nav the “Assessment catalog”.
  • Follow the instructions to select your machine, add your logging path.
  • Select Submit.
  • You will see a brief intermediary tag “Adding details” then your tag will say “In progress”.

Expected Result:

You will see a tile that says, "In Progress".

In progress status tile metadata:

  • Type – Assessment tag in the top left-hand corner
  • Status – In progress tag in the top right-hand corner
  • Assessment title with icon
    • Sub-Title – Configuration required
  • Computer – Whichever computer you choose
  • Button
    • Configure – By selecting this you will be taken to a new tab to the instructions on how to configure your assessment

How to steps: "In Progress" status Assessment tile

Select Configure tile and follow our On-Demand Assessment Setup documentation. You will have configured your Assessment and results will start showing up.

Expected Result:

You will see a tile that says, "Complete".

Complete status tile

  • Type – Assessment tag in the top left-hand corner
  • Status – Complete green tag in the top right-hand corner
  • On-Demand Assessment title with icon
    • Sub-Title – Showcases when it updated last – last updated "N" days ago
  • Machine – Machine name that you entered when you added the assessment
  • Assessment details
    • "N" recommendations
    • "N" passed checks
  • Button
    • Results – By selecting this button it will bring out the side pane to view your results of your Assessment recommendations (See “View Results” section below for details).
    • Download
      • Recommendations – Selecting this link will download all the Assessment recommendations into an excel format with all the details. It is best for the IP solution owners to understand any issue at a deep level or to import into your bug tracking system to resolve.
      • Executive Summary – Selecting this link will download the Assessment recommendations into a PowerPoint format from a top-level focus of areas. It is best for executive-level consumption to understand the environment's state at a high level.

How to steps: "Not Started" status Survey tile

Select Take Survey and answer all the questions in the right-hand pane.

Expected Result:

You will see a tile that says, "Complete".

Complete status tile:

  • Type – Survey tag in the top left-hand corner
  • Status – Complete green tag in the top right-hand corner
  • Survey title with icon
    • Sub-Title – Showcases when it updated last – last updated "N" days ago
  • Survey details
    • "N" recommendations
    • "N" passed checks
  • Button
    • View Results – By selecting this button it will bring out the side pane to view your results of your Survey recommendations (See “View Results” section below for details).
    • Download
      • Recommendations – Selecting this link will download all the Survey recommendations into an excel format with all the details. It is best for the IP solution owners to understand any issue at a deep level or to import into your bug tracking system to resolve.
      • Executive Summary – Selecting this link will download the Survey recommendations into a PowerPoint format from a top-level focus of areas. It is best for executive-level consumption to understand the environment's state at a high level.

View Results

Description: You will be able to view each recommendation and the details of each recommendation directly from the side panel for improved performance or you can choose to view them from your Log Analytics workbook to utilize the power of Kusto Query's for assessments.

How-To Steps: View Results

On an assessment or survey tile that has the "Complete" status, select View Results.

Expected Results:

  • By selecting the "View Results" on the tile, the View Results side pane will appear, and the recommendation titles with focus area and weight for each recommendation.

View Results Side Pane

  1. The title of the Assessment/Survey appears at the top, along with the computer name (Assessment results only).
  2. Open in Workbook (Assessment results only). Selecting this will open another tab where the Log Analytics workbook opens. By leveraging Kusto queries in Log Analytics, organizations gain immediate visibility into key findings from your On-Demand assessments, transforming raw data into strategic insights for risk reduction and operational excellence.
  3. The View Results side pane will be scrollable with the following metadata columns:
    • Recommendation – This is the title of the recommendation
    • Focus area – This is the focus area that that recommendation is part of
    • Weight – This is the propriety number that distinguishes between high and low priority
      • High Priority – Red number
      • Low Priority – Blue number
  4. Each metadata column can be sorted alphabetically or numerically by selecting the column title and selecting sort.
  5. Each metadata column can be resized by:
    • a. Select the title and select resize. This gives you the option to put in how many pixels you would like that column
    • Hovering between columns and dragging to the desired width

How-To Steps: View Recommendation Details

Select any recommendation in the View Results side pane.

Expected Results:

  • By selecting any recommendation in the view results side pane, details of the selected recommendation will appear.

View Details Side Pane

  1. You will continue to still see the title of the Assessment/Survey at the top and the computer name (Assessment results only).
  2. Back to Recommendations returns you to the View Results side pane.
  3. The View Details side pane will be scrollable with the potential following metadata:
    • Focus area in blue
    • Title of recommendation in bold
    • Weight: Any number in red is a high priority recommendation and any number in blue is a low priority recommendation
    • Recommendation: This is the description of the recommendation
    • Suggested action: This will help you decide what your next steps are to resolve this recommendation
    • Context: This provides you with more information on the recommendations for you to make decisions.
    • Prioritization Guidance
      • Impact: What is the impact of this recommendation if not fixed on the environment
        1. Catastrophic – Extremely high business impact
        2. High – Significant impact on operations
        3. Moderate – Noticeable impact with manageable consequences
        4. Low – Minor impact on business operations
      • Effort: What is the level of work required to resolve this recommendation
        1. Very High – Requires substantial resources and time
        2. High – Significant effort and resource allocation needed
        3. Moderate – Standard effort with reasonable resource requirements
        4. Low – Minimal effort and resource requirements
      • Probability: What is the likelihood of this recommendation turning into a support ticket
        1. Very High – Almost certain to occur
        2. High – Likely to occur
        3. Moderate – Moderate chance
        4. Low to Moderate – Some possibility
        5. Very Low – Unlikely
    • Troubleshooting steps: This will provide guidance on how to resolve this recommendation
    • Learn More: These are provided learning documents that provide more context on the recommendation
    • Affected Objects: These alert you to the objects that need to be fixed and the reason for this recommendation failing. You will get the last reported date and the details of the affected object to help you identify and resolve the recommendation

Reports

Description: You will be able to download all results in two different types of reports.

  • Recommendations – An Excel document providing details of all your recommendations
  • Executive Summary – A PowerPoint that provides a look at the top recommendations per focus area.

How-To Steps:

Select the Download button and choose either Recommendations or Executive Summary. This will save the file to your default downloads folder, then either selecy the file in your browser to open it immediately or access it later from the Downloads folder.

Expected Results:

  • By selecting any type of file, you will download that file to your downloads file and be able to open from your browser.

Collapse All

Description: You will be able to collapse or expand all the product groups of tiles.

How-To Steps

  1. Select Collapse All in the top navigation.

Expected Results:

  • All product groups will collapse.

Troubleshooting - Features

Tiles not updating

  • Refresh the dashboard or verify connector sync settings.

Recommendations not loading

  • Check permissions and ensure connector is active.

Report download fails

  • Confirm network connectivity and retry.

FAQ - Features

How often are tile statuses updated?
Tiles are updated anytime that you come into the Connector or when you select refresh on the top navigation.

Can I customize the recommendations’ view?
Currently, you can resize or sort any of the columns.

Are reports available in other formats?
No, Excel and PPT are the only supported report formats currently.
