Requirements for Installing and Using the HPC Web Parts
Applies To: Office SharePoint Server 2007, Windows HPC Server 2008
This topic describes the system and permissions requirements for deploying the HPC Web Parts solution and creating a SharePoint site, and for using the HPC SharePoint site to submit and monitor jobs on a Windows® HPC Server 2008 cluster.
Deploying the HPC Web Parts and creating a SharePoint site
Deploying the HPC Web Parts solution involves modifying the web.config file on the server that runs Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, specifying the cluster head node, and adding the Web Parts to the Web Part Gallery.
Required permissions
Modify permissions on the web.config file on the server that runs Office SharePoint Server 2007.
Administrative permissions to Office SharePoint Server 2007 or be a member of a site group that has the Create Subsites permission.
To verify the functionality of the site, you need domain credentials that have User or Administrator permissions on the HPC cluster and Read permission on the SharePoint site that includes the HPC Web Parts.
SharePoint server system requirements
Windows Server 2008 operating system.
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 with Service Pack 1 (SP 1) installed.
Microsoft® HPC Pack 2008 client utilities installed.
.Net Framework 3.5 installed.
The computer is joined to the same domain or to a domain that has a trust relationship with the Windows HPC Server 2008 cluster domain.
Using an HPC SharePoint site to submit jobs to an HPC cluster
A SharePoint site that includes the HPC Web Parts provides Web-based access to an HPC cluster. You can submit and monitor jobs without installing the HPC Pack 2008 client utilities.
Required permissions
To use the SharePoint site to submit jobs to the cluster, you must log in to the site as a domain user with the following permissions:
Read permission on the SharePoint site that includes the HPC Web Parts.
User or Administrator permissions on the Windows HPC cluster.
