64-Bit Support in Team Foundation

You can install components of Team Foundation on any supported 64-bit or 32-bit edition of Windows Server 2008, with the exception of any Itanium-based editions. Team Foundation support for 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2003 is more complicated: Although you can install Team Foundation Build Service on 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2003, you can install Team Foundation Server or Team Foundation Server Proxy only on 32-bit editions of Windows Server 2003.

On the installation DVD for Team Foundation, you can find folders that are named TFS-x64 and TFS-x86 and that contain the installation programs for 64-bit and 32-bit operating systems, respectively. You must the run the installation program which matches the operating system that you are running. For example, you must run setup.exe from the TFS-x64 folder (\TFS-x64\setup.exe) if you are running a 64-bit operating system. Likewise, you must run setup.exe from the TFS-x86 folder (\TFS-x86\setup.exe) if you are running a 32-bit operating system.

Note

You should double-check the optional software that you plan to use with your deployment. For example, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 has its own 64-bit requirements. For more information, see the following page on the Microsoft Web site: Hardware and software requirements (SharePoint Server 2010).
