Installing Visual Basic

You install Visual Basic on your computer using the Setup program. The Setup program installs Visual Basic and other product components from the CD-ROM to your hard disc. It also installs the files necessary to view the documentation on the Microsoft Developer Network CD. If you choose, you can install only the Visual Basic documentation and samples to your machine.

Important   You cannot simply copy files from the CD-ROM to your hard disc and run Visual Basic. You must use the Setup program, which decompresses and installs the files in the appropriate directories.
