List accessPackageResourceRoles

Namespace: microsoft.graph

Important

APIs under the /beta version in Microsoft Graph are subject to change. Use of these APIs in production applications is not supported. To determine whether an API is available in v1.0, use the Version selector.

Retrieve a list of accessPackageResourceRole objects of an accessPackageResource in an accessPackageCatalog. The resource should have been added to the catalog by creating an accessPackageResourceRequest. This list of roles can then be used by the caller to select a role, which is needed when later creating an accessPackageResourceRoleScope.

This API is available in the following national cloud deployments.

Global service US Government L4 US Government L5 (DOD) China operated by 21Vianet

Permissions

Choose the permission or permissions marked as least privileged for this API. Use a higher privileged permission or permissions only if your app requires it. For details about delegated and application permissions, see Permission types. To learn more about these permissions, see the permissions reference.

Permission type Least privileged permissions Higher privileged permissions
Delegated (work or school account) EntitlementManagement.Read.All EntitlementManagement.ReadWrite.All
Delegated (personal Microsoft account) Not supported. Not supported.
Application EntitlementManagement.Read.All EntitlementManagement.ReadWrite.All

Tip

In delegated scenarios with work or school accounts, the signed-in user must also be assigned an administrator role with supported role permissions through one of the following options:

  • A role in the Entitlement Management system where the least privileged roles are:
    • Catalog reader. This is the least privileged option
    • Catalog creator
    • Access package manager
  • More privileged Microsoft Entra roles supported for this operation:
    • Security Reader
    • Global Reader
    • Compliance Administrator
    • Security Administrator
    • Identity Governance Administrator

In app-only scenarios, the calling app can be assigned one of the preceding supported roles instead of the EntitlementManagement.Read.All application permission. The Catalog reader role is less privileged than the EntitlementManagement.Read.All application permission.

For more information, see Delegation and roles in entitlement management and how to delegate access governance to access package managers in entitlement management.

Examples

Example 1: Retrieving the roles of a resource for a group

Response

The following example shows the response.

      "description": "description-value",
      "originId": "originId-value",
      "originSystem": "originSystem-value"
    }
  ]
}

Example 2: Retrieve the roles of a resource for a SharePoint site

The following example shows how to retrieve the roles of a resource, to obtain the originId of each role. This would be used after a SharePoint site has been added as a resource to the catalog, as the originId of a SharePoint site role, the sequence number of the role in the site, is needed to add the role to an access package.

Request

The following is an example of the request, to retrieve the roles of a particular resource 53c71803-a0a8-4777-aecc-075de8ee3991 which has an originSystem of SharePointOnline and is located in catalog beedadfe-01d5-4025-910b-84abb9369997.

GET https://graph.microsoft.com/beta/identityGovernance/entitlementManagement/accessPackageCatalogs/beedadfe-01d5-4025-910b-84abb9369997/accessPackageResourceRoles?$filter=(originSystem+eq+%27SharePointOnline%27+and+accessPackageResource/id+eq+%2753c71803-a0a8-4777-aecc-075de8ee3991%27)&$select=displayName,originId

Response

The following example shows the response. The displayName is the same as shown in the SharePoint view of a site, and the originId is the underlying identifier established by SharePoint for the role.
