This feature provides a hands-on, end-to-end demonstration of how Business performance planning enables integrated planning directly in a Power BI app.
Customers, partners, and field teams can experience how strategic decisions, workforce plans, operating expenses, capital investments, and revenue forecasts connect into a single planning flow. This helps stakeholders visualize the value of planning in Power BI, supports customer evaluations, and enables consistent, repeatable demos without custom report development.

The financial planning and analysis planning experience is a downloadable Power BI app and report template that enables users to explore, analyze, and interact with financial planning and analysis plans directly in Power BI.
The app is preconfigured to connect to Business performance planning cubes and dimensions deployed in Dataverse and provides a ready‑to‑use planning and analysis experience across core financial planning and analysis use cases, including:
- Driver-based revenue planning and scenario comparison.
- OPEX and workforce planning with assumption adjustments.
- CAPEX planning and financial impact analysis.
- Cost allocations and approvals visibility.
- Reporting, variance analysis, and management commentary (BVA).
Users interact with the solution entirely from Power BI, using Business performance planning custom visuals to adjust planning values, test scenarios, and analyze outcomes. Planning inputs are written back to the underlying Business performance planning data model in Dataverse, keeping analysis and planning tightly connected.
This Power BI app is designed to demonstrate how financial planning and analysis teams plan, analyze, and iterate inside Power BI, using a consistent and repeatable set of reports connected to prebuilt financial planning and analysis planning models. It focuses on illustrating planning workflows, decision-making, and cross‑domain impact, rather than report authoring or data model configuration.
Note
The app is intended for demonstration, evaluation, and enablement purposes only. Structural changes to the underlying model may affect report behavior, and resetting the demo environment will remove all user changes. The solution is not intended for direct production use with customer data without further extension and validation.
