CoInitializeSecurity 0x80010119  Security must be initialized before any interfaces are marshaled or un-marshaled

source: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH12638.html

-2147417831, 0x80010119, Security must be initialized before any interfaces are marshaled or un-marshaled., It cannot be changed once initialized.

My problem is related to ArcServe 16, 17 and 17.5 but i found the exact same error message in the symantec forum

what the hell is the "marshaled or un-marshaled" thing?

all sofwtares in the galaxy can copy the file, copy, xcopy, robocopy, explorer.exe, several softwares can backup with no problem like windows server backup, BackupExec or commvault

But not arcserve...

let´s say that that could be a problem related to security descriptors. what to do?

subinacl shows no error:

Hi KayZerSoze,

Based on the research, "Security must be initialized before any interfaces are marshaled or unmarshaled. It cannot be changed once it is initialized." Also says that its a result of "CoInitializeSecurity has already been called."

Please refer to the thread discussed before to do a check

Your problem is mainly about  ArcServe? If so, since it is the 3rd party software, we mainly support the build-in feature, I suggest you could contact the software vendor for more professional support.

Appreciate your support and understanding.

Mary

Two issues here:

1) The problem only occurs at two mounted volumes, but not in c:\ only on c:\data1 and c:\data2 volumes

2) ArcServe asked for a partnership with MS and suggested to me to pay for (very expensive) premier/developer

Support so they can work together

the reason why only "non-c:\ volumes are affected maybe is related to the robocopy tool, which i´ve used to copy the files and maybe have caused the problem

Hi,

For now, I still couldn't find more clue for this issue. And since your environment are involves other 3rd party service, I couldn't reproduce this issue. I will do further research about this case and reply to you if there is any update. It is also appreciated that the other members in our forum can share their experience with us about this scenario.

Best Regards,

Mary
