Hi,
In a Siemens WinCC editor on a PC with Win7 SP1 32-bit we use the ActiveX Microsoft DTPicker 6.0 (SP4). MS Visual Studio 2008 V 9.0.30729.4462 QFE is installed. However, the error message is sent by MS: License information not found. You do not possess a valid license for the design mode.
What can we do?
Thanks.
Michael

Hi Michael,
From your description. I found the issue is not about Visual Studio.
It seems like the cause is related to Siemens WinCC editor License.
I also found a similar thread to yours. You may take a look at it:
So I suggest you'd better post this issue in the Siemens Wincc forum for better support:

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Lake,
Thanks for your suggestion.
Before posting, the Siemens support in Germany sent me the FAQ 32433778 to which your suggested link also refers. Howevers, Siemens told me that this a Microsoft license issue where Siemens declines all responsibilities.
So, my question: what Microsoft product should we install such that ActiveX Microsoft DTPicker 6.0 (SP4) could be used in a code (here, WinCC 7.3)?

Hi Michael Amrhein,
Could you please tell me where did you get the ActiveX Microsoft DTPicker 6.0 (SP4)?
I did a research for the “ActiveX Microsoft DTPicker 6.0 (SP4) ” control.
I found it seems like the control “Date time picker” which exist only in Visual Studio 6.0.
You could refer to the following document about “DateTimePicker” control.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa231249(v=vs.60).aspx
So I suppose If you were using this control like an extended control in the WinCC application which is not in Visual Studio.
In this case. May be you need to have the license of the Visual Studio 2008

Hi Lake,
Thanks for your suggestion. MS Visual Studio 2008 V 9.0.30729.4462 QFE comes and is installed with MS SQL Server 2008 R2 during installation of WinCC7.3. However, only 'Business Intelligence Projects' and 'Other Project types' are visible under File > New > Project... > 'Project types', but no language (e.g. Visual C++, Visual Basic).
Does the ActiveX DateTimePicker need the installation of a language?
Best regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,
>>Does the ActiveX DateTimePicker need the installation of a language?
I am not quite sure whether we are talking about the same “DateTimePicker”.
Would please tell me the detailed information about “ActiveX DateTimePicker” you said. Or could you share us a UI of it.
But for the “DateTimePicker” which I mentioned above. It need the installation of language package.
For Example: if you want to add the “DateTimePicker” to the C# WPF application. You need to install C# language package.
So I suggest you could try to install the language package with the following steps:
Control Panel->Uninstall a program->Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. Right click it and click change button. Then click modify and select the Language what you want to install.
On the other hand. Since the Visual Studio came during installation of WinCC7.3. And it is not the entire version of the Visual Studio.
So I suggest you’d better install the Visual Studio 2008 directly in the official URL:
