Does it work?
I am running x64 Vista Ultimate with Widcomm 5.1.0.1100 and my BT dongle works just fine.
Running Server 2008 x64 Enterprise Full, It does not. I can't even find a version of Widcomm software that works.
I have a PALM Tungsten T3 with Bluetooth and PALM does not make drivers for x64 via the USB port and the only way I can use it with my PC on x64 is to use the Bluetooth option.
Does anyone know of a way to make this work??

This might be caused by Windows Server 2008 not enabling Wireless by default.
You can install the "Wireless Networking" feature through Server Manager as described here.

I just installed the Wireless Lan Service and will attempt to install the Bluetooth software tomorrow.

I installed the Wireless Lan Server and am now attempting to install the Bluetooth. I have been having problems with Bluetooth seeing the Dongle.
My dongle flashes when Windows sees the device, however my Widcomm software does not see it and says there is no device available.
It does generate the com ports 4 and 5 upon install so that is not the problem.
Will update this thread again when I know more.

I still can't get my Bluetooth to work.
Broadcomm version 5.1.0.1100 is supposed to be the latest version to work with the older BT dongles. It works fine on my Vista x64 Ultimate machine. On this one with Server 2008 sometimes the comm ports install, sometimes not, the driver for the Bluetooth dongle installs sometimes, sometimes not. And when it does I get the Code 39 error which says the driver is missing or corrupt.
I then remove the BT dongle from the device manager and do a new search. I have tried both methods of installing the driver.
Letting Windows find itself and by picking it myself. Either way no good.
I switched BT dongles to a Trendnet TBW-101 UB driver and downloaded the latest drivers for it.
I installed it and it won't install the other devices for the dongle ie. headset, etc. It, too won't install the comm ports. (I have never been able to get this dongle to work with Vista, the x86 or the x64 version since I purchased it in January 2007).
Because my PALM Tungsten T3 requires com port #4 to communicate with my PC I need to find something that works.
The Hot Sync manager for the Palm uses com ports and as in my earlier post, PALM will not build x64 drivers, the only way for my Palm to communicate is by BlueTooth.
I installed the Wireless LAN Server as requested above. Is there anything else left to do? Maybe it will work but I maybe I am missing something else on the Windows Side.
As I stated in an earlier post, I can run it just find on Vista x64 Ultimate using the ISSC BT Dongle with Broadcom 5.1.0.1100.

Is there something else to install????
I can install Broadcom 5.1.0.1100 but when installing the driver for the BT dongle I get Code 39 the device driver is missing or corrupt.
It also does not install the com ports 4 and 5 which it needs to communicate with my Palm.
I tried the Trendnet TBW-102BT dongle, still doesn't work.
Is there a KNOWN BT dongle that works. and installs with the com ports??
I have also tried the IVT BlueSoleil software and it does not work either.

I switched from Widcomm to IVT Bluesoleil version 5.0.5.170.
Now I get the Hot Sync to work flawlessly but cannot get the Internet function to work. I get 0x1212 Timeout error on my Palm.
In the Netwrork Connections screen I get only the connection for my LAN.
Under Device Manager I not only get the above, I also get a Bluetooth adapter. I also, now, get the comm ports I need.
I just have to figure out how to make the lan connection work.

I just installed the latest version of Server 2008 RC1. Same problems.
Hot Sync works fine. No internet to my Bluetooth.
I think something else needs to be turned on on the Windows Server side for the Bluetooth Internet function to be seen.
What have I missed???

With the IVT software, my PDA talks to Windows but windows does not respond. Under Network and Sharing Center, my PAN Connection does not show up, however my LAN connection does have ICS for it. Under the Device manager, the Bluetooth PAN shows up with my LAN connection. My HostSync does work from PDA to the Internet however the PAN does not.
Tells me something is amiss with Windows allowing the PAN to be seen.
The Widcomm issue is all together different. Under VISTA both x86 and x64 it works flawlessly.
Under Server 2008 Server x64 full Enterprise, nothing works. I get the infamous code 39 (the driver is missing or corrupt) in the device drivers for my ISSC Bluetooth Dongle and it won't start. It won't even install the comm ports it needs.
Also, when Windows finds the new device, I have tried to let it install its own drivers and bluetooth for it but Windows says it can't find anything so I just install the drivers from Widcomm.
I just downloaded the latest Server 6001.17119.071210-1916_amd64fre_Server_en-us-KR1SXFRE_EN_DVD.iso and will install this and see if this fixes my problems.

I tried it with the above version. Same problem.
I still think something on the Windows side is not turned on.
I have yet to find a tutorial or information on how to setup a bluetooth device on Server 2008.
Maybe that is an impossibility.
Or maybe they just haven't got there yet.

This may or *may not* work on other hardware, YMMV!
(Solution tested on a Latitude D630, and works)
NOTE: Ignore any and all 'found hardware' prompts during this process!
First, I installed the Vista x86 BT driver under 'networking' on the support site:
http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/Dell_Wireless-360-Module-wit_A01_R155395.exe
Reboot
Next, I downloaded the Toshiba BT stack v5 from the Europe site:
http://www.toshiba-tro.de/tools/bluetooth/BT-stack.zip
Unzip the primary archive, and then extract 51012T_20070531.exe and run setup.exe (or just run 51012T_20070531.exe).
(If you extract 51012T_20070531.exe, the setup.exe is in the x32 folder.)
Reboot
When you log back in, there will be multiple HW installs going, observed in device manager.
After about a minute, it finishes installing all of the BT stack (devices?).
I don't have a PDA to test the DUN/PAN functionality....

Hi, You had a good idea with own apps by Toshiba. But I have other BT Dongle - Broadcom Bluetooth 2.0 EDR USB Dongle. I must resolved with edited drivers.
Required for install:
Vista or WS2008 x86: http://www.toshiba-tro.de/tools/bluetooth/BT-stack.zip
Vista or WS2008 x64: http://www.toshiba-tro.de/tools/bluetooth/BT-stack-64bit.zip
Hex Editor, e.g. WinHex or CodePad
1. If you down it, you will install this software. When Toshiba Setup say Plug your BT device, you'll click to cancel. Install is succesfull.
2. Open Device Manager (Start | Control Panel | Device Manager) or Start | Run... | devmgmt.msc
You find in Other devices - Bluetooth dongle. Get Properties of it. On fold Details you see Property, It scroll to Hardware Ids. In Value Box u see two line, e.g.:
USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2101&REV_0100
USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2101
You copy second line with short Ids ('USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2101')
3. Now you going to folder:
Vista or WS2008 x86: %PROGRAMFILES%\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\Drivers\tosrfusb
Vista or WS2008 x64: %PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\Drivers\tosrfusb
Here are files: tosrfusb.cat, tosrfusb.inf, tosrfusb.sys
You need edited *.cat, and *.inf file.
4. Open tosrfusb.inf in Notepad.exe (e.g. Start | Run... | Notepad.exe)
Here you must edited line 161:

and line 288:

I now have several Bluetooth mice, headphones, and cell phones all working fine on WS08 x64 on my HP 8710p laptop. The problem was not the HP hardware drivers (the Vista x64 hardware-specific drivers all worked fine), but the MSFT Bluetooth drivers are all configured to NOT install on WS08. I was able to solve the problem with some judicious INF file editing. No need to download and install old drivers.

Hello Jmtyra,
you saved my day and ended days of headache!!
I also have a Latitude 630 and I run windows 2008 32bit.
I had the broadcom driver already installed, the toshiba drivers were the missing part!
The Toshiba drivers you link to, are meanwhile a version 7xx but they also work fine!
Now I was finally able to synchronize my Nokia 5000 with Outlook!
The best part is, that I did not have to do any registry hacking or disabling of certificates, just execute the file!

This does not work for the 2008 R2 server and Dell drivers for the 370 series BT hardware any other ideas to try?
