We have a files server on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. On this server the shadow copy is activate, and we are able to restore with the user administrator.
On a client machine, with a standard user we see the list of backup in the tab "Previous versions", but when we try to open one, we have the error :
"Windows cannot access \[server]\share]\GMT-2013.05.06
you do not have permission to access..."
Note : the user have access to this share folder

Seems strange. Please find another account which could access the snapshot, and compare the user group they belong to, and the security permission set on the snapshot.

I have already try with few users and I have the same problem. I have also try to add the "Full access" to the user on the share folder, with the same result.
The only users who is able to access the previous version is "Administrator", and "Domains admin" members.

I would take control of the Folder and add permissions again. It sounds like the permissions did not take full effect.

Hi,
Change the permission of a share will not change the permission of its previous version. Thus please log onto the server locally, right click on the drive which contain the shared folder, choose Properties. Open the Previous Version of the local drive and find the shared folder, check the permission of the folder to see if the permission on the previous version is the same as current situation and if the users you tried do have permission to access it.

Hi, I am a domain admin and not able to change the permissions of previous version with the same error as in the question. I am able to access the current version of the folder no problem, and user can restore the previous version. The question is how to grant permission on previous version to myself being domain admin? I can do anything to live version of folder but previous version properties security greid out, saying dont have permission. Windows 2008 R2.
