Problem with wmiprvse.exe always crashing

Question

Thursday, April 19, 2018 7:03 PM | 1 vote

I bought a new computer yesterday. A HP. Everything was working fine last night. Today, I started up my computer and have only used pretty much Google Chrome and no other programs. I haven't even installed anything on the computer, and the only files I have are two college-related textbooks.

However, I keep getting a message saying that wmiprvse.exe has stopped working. I get this message every 3/5 minutes and it's really annoying. I don't know what could be causing this. Can anyone help me?

Press Windows Key + R and enter services.msc

Locate Windows Management Instrumentation service, right click it and choose Restart from the menu. If restart option isn’t available, simply stop the service and start it again by choosing the appropriate options.

You may need to restart other services.

Choose Command Prompt (Admin)

When Command Prompt starts, run the following commands:
net stop iphlpsvc
net stop wscsvc
net stop Winmgmt
net start Winmgmt
net start wscsvc
net start iphlpsvc
After the commands are executed, restart your PC and check if the issue is resolved.

Type services.msc in search box, find and disable Windows Management Instrumentation service.

Remove HP Wireless Assistant

Use Event Viewer to find the problematic process

I checked the link, did all the steps mentioned and the problem is still happening.

Is there anything else I can do? Nothing seems to be working at the moment.

Since  a new machine, you could reset system to repair issue, there is not so many data need to be backup, also, contact HP for support, they can reinstall OEM system for you.
