I don't know when nor why this was removed, but, for some reason, I used to love the old Windows defrag that had a diagram. It used to be 50x50, or something, grid with blue blocks representing filled sectors and white blocks showing free space or green for system or swap space, etc. We could visually see a diagram our hard drives and the relative positions of where all the files were physically positioned on the disk. Then, when the defrag program was ran, we could see Windows moving and arranging the sectors into a nice cohesive block. Please bring this back :)

You know, I have no idea where or when did you see what you described.
I have been using Windows for less than10 years, starting with Windows Vista. So, my experience is limited.
That said, give Auslogics Disk Defrag a try. IT might be the closest thing you have in mind.

Actually Defrag in Win explorer & its graphic display unit isnt a very performance way to go,its useing alot of
system components to display it..Best bet, open cmd, type: Defrag C: or defrag any storage component, maybe
its not as visually enhanced as in explorer, but its a better way to defrag...

There was a certain pleasurable aesthetic to this feature, rather like watching the "Life" program. Bring it back please (as an option).

So make it an option!
