DHCProot in ADSIEdit - should it be empty?

Question

Wednesday, May 11, 2011 7:57 AM

Trying to clean out an old DCHP server which no longer exists.

I have read

http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2009/02/27/old-dhcp-servers-appear-in-the-list-of-authorized-servers-after-a-domain-rename.aspx

However in CN=NetServices I have two containers

CN=DHCPRoot, containing ONLY the old, unwanted server in the DhcpServers Attribute

CN=NEWDHCPSERVER.FQDN, with the new server in the DhcpServers Attribute

Do I

A. Delete the DhcpServers Attribute of the DHCPRoot container?

B Copy the contents of the NEWDHCPSERVER container to DHCPRoot and overwrite the old server, then delete the NEWSERVER container?

C Something else, like renaming?

Many thanks

Hello,

A is sufficient. All our DHCP servers are listed separate in the right pane as the CN=DhcpRoot itself and NONE of them is listed in the DHCPServers attribute.

So the DHCPRoot continer DOES NOT need a DHCPServer attribute?CarolChi
