Hi,
In browser, when i am entering http://localhost:8888,site is opening. But when i am entering http://servername:8888 site is not opening and displaying message as below.
'The URL you have typed is not resolvable. Generally this is due to a mistyped URL. Please verify that the domain exists and is correct.'
I need to enter http://servername:8888 in designer to edit the master page.So please share your ideas in resolving this.

Hi,
Even now also i couldn't access my site with http://servername:portno.I was keen on accessing like this because i was getting error when i was trying to edit master page with the help of designer as below.
soap:Server was unable to process request.>Value does not fall within the expected range.
Finally i was able to edit master page with designer after following the below link.

Hi,
It seems like the server name is not getting resolved. Can you ping to this name from server it self (ping servername)?

Amol,
It is happening with ASP .net sites as well, whereas while creating site i had given http://servername:8888 only.
Till yesterday site was accessible with http://servername:8888,but from today only site is getting accessed through http://localhost:8888.
Even configuration changes have not undergone in the machine, but don't know why this is getting happened?
Thanks & Regards,
Sudheer

Hi,
As i said, somehow The server name is not getting resolved and this behavior is related to network. You can try one thing, Add this server name in host file against your local IP (127.0.0.1) and try.
Have you tried accessing the site with IP address ? I belive it might be related to DNS server. I would suggest to involve someone from your network team for this.

Did you configure that name in SharePoint Alternate Access Mappings in your Central Administration?
