How come: Permissions were granted - But still cannot access SharePoint ?

Question

Hi,

I have a SharePoint site that has many document libraries and folders. Also, I have over 90 groups and each group contains about 50 users in the Active Directory.

Most recently, I granted permissions for some users on specific folder by doing the following steps:

1- Open the site and navigate the document library.

2- Highlight and tick the checkbox of that particular folder “ABC” folder.

3- From the Context menu, I click on: “Manage Permissions” option.

4- Click on: “Grant Permissions”.

5- Type the user accounts and select: “Full Control” option, and OK-Button.

My problem is that, Only one or two of the users were able to access the SharePoint Site and see that particular folder. But all the others were totally unable to access SharePoint and their web browsers have no response and showing a blank white page.

Could you please help me out how to resolve this issue ?

You will need to give atleast read only (visitor) permission on the site also for those users whom you need to give the permission on particular list item or folder. Thanks Anshul - Zevenseas

Hi,

The basic concept is that the user need to have acess on the site starting from minimal level to full control level.

If you want that a particular user should acess only that document contents then he should have atleast "Limited Acess" permission level on the site.

Check those users have atleast the "Limited Acess"  permission level.

Then your problem will be solved

hope this helps :)
