Using Mac Authentication Bypass with Windows Server 2012 r2 NPS and Cisco 3850

Question

Hello,

I'm trying to use Mac Authentication Bypass (MAB) for desk phones and printers in our 802.1x protected network. I've scoured tons of articles on here and tried everything I have read about, including creating user accounts with the MAC address as the user name and pw and creating connection request policies and network policies using calling station ID as the condition and PAP as the authentication method as well as using no authentication method.

Has anyone ever got this to work? Is there anyone that can point me to an article that they used that worked?

Thanks so much,

Trev

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

I find an article about calling station ID:

Hi Travis,

Unfortunately not. I was actually able to get it authenticated on either end, on the switch and on the domain controller but still no connection which is extremely frustrating. I'm thinking I'm going to call Cisco support because the issue is now most likely on the switch end.
