SCCM client fails to install. Recieving failed to connect to policy namespace error 0x8004100e

HI all. I am somewhat new to SCCM I have created a SCCM server in a closed environment and I can not get the client to install when attempting to push it to the system. I am trying to install it on Win10 systems. I have verified that File and print sharing is enabled in the firewall as well as WMI. I have also checked the logs and AD scheme has been expanded correctly I believe. The service account does log in correctly according to ccm.log file. Also the boundary has been setup via IP. So I am not sure where else to look.

To me that seems like misconfigured IIS. I would remove IIS and install making sure you include each of the following

Add the following Server Roles by selecting them from the list:
- Web Server (IIS)

    - HTTP Redirection
  - Health and Diagnostics
    - HTTP Logging
    - Logging Tools

  - Request Filtering
  - Basic Authentication
  - Client Certificate Mapping Authentication
  - IP and Domain Restrictions
  - URL Authorization
  - Windows Authorization
- Application Development
  - .NET Extensibility 3.5
  - .NET Extensibility 4.5
  - ASP
  - ASP.NET 3.5
  - ASP.NET 4.5
  - ISAPI Extensions
  - ISAPI Filters
  - Server Side Includes
- FTP Server
  - FTP Service
- Management Tools
  - IIS Management Console
  - IIS 6 Management Compatibility
    - IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility
    - IIS 6 Management Console
    - IIS 6 Scripting Tools
    - IIS 6 WMI Compatibility
  - IIS 6 Management Scripts and Tools
  - Management Service
Add the following Features by selecting them from the list:
- Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
  - IIS Server Extension
- Remote Server Administration Tools
  - Feature Administration Tools
  - BITS Server Extensions Tools

Then on the Management point go to the management point role and switched from HTTP to HTTPS, let it try and install and fail, and then switched it back. Monitor the MPSetup.log to check when this had installed.

which will cause SCCM to configure it the rest of the way.

This would normally lead me to believe the boundaries are not quite correct but let me see what else I can find.

Have you checked that Bits is enabled on the client?

I have verified BITS is running and set to automatic.

**On 64-bit system, the client installation logs(ccmsetup.log,client.msi.log etc) are located in the %WINDIR%

For the new error I would start at checking your IIS logs at C:\inetpub\logs\logfiles feel free to post and I can look through too. I would say it will likely end up being an account permissions issue but it is good to read first.

This log is from IIS? If you can do me the favor since this one seems to be a few issues if you can upload the logs to Box or something and share the URL that would be a lot easier to look at. Also it is no problem I am just happy to help as others have helped me in the past.

The network is a closed network and does not have a firewall in the network infrastructure. I have check and made sure that the SCCM server windows firewall has been disabled and also just to make sure enabled on inbound and outbound traffic file and print sharing and WMI.

What do you have under client push installation properties in administration > Sites > Site > Client Installation Settings > Client Push Installation > Installation Properties?

Can you go to the following without an error from the client?

http://<ServerName>/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist

http://<ServerName>/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mpcert

(replace <ServerName> with the name of your MP Server

Also are you using HTTPS only?

and finally for testing try

unchecked the Use PKI client certificate (client authentication capability) when available if it is checked.

First question for under installation properties it is set to SMSSITECODE=CCM

When attempting to go to the url you mentioned with either http or https using my MP server name I get the Error 404 -not found

Detailed Error information:

Error code 0x80070002

No I am not attempting to user HTTPS only it is setup to use HTTPS and HTTP, Use PKI client certification was already unchecked.

I was finally able to get back to it this afternooon. I am seeing completely different logs I will let you know what i see by the end of the day and post them. Thank you again for your help.

That fixed my issue and I am not able to successfully push clients to respective systems thank you for your paitence in helping me resolve this issue I have learned a lot.
