Windows server 2012 RDP clipboard does not work for regular users

Question

Tuesday, April 7, 2015 4:53 AM

Hello again,

I wanted to secure a little bit our server 2012.

I disabled via GPO, local drive and printer redirection when a user connect via rdp.

But, I activated the policy to users so then can do clipboard redirection between there pc and rdp server (copy / paste)

Problem is that, it work's only for the admin.

Does the fact that local drive redirection is disable that copy / paste does not work ?

I force the gpo update and I sign out the user and relogin and copy/paste does not work

and also,  the rdpclip.exe process is running . I did restart that process.

Any help or guide

Thank you one more time.

Hi Sir,

Please check the user configuration , there is a setting for clipboard :

User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Remote Desktop Services \ Remote Desktop Session Hosts \ Device and Resource Redirection \Do not allow clipboard redirection

The setting should be disabled or not configured .

It is a workgroup environment right ?

Also please check the registry in marked answer within following thread :

Hi there!

I'd check GPO, checking for

Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Remote Desktop Services \ Remote Desktop Session Hosts \ Device and Resource Redirection \Do not allow clipboard redirection

To double check it's enabled.

Also make sure it's not explicitly disabled on the host config (2008R2, Run Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration, then Client Settings in the Connection properties tab).

Hope this helps, let us know how it goes.

I already check GPO : computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Remote Desktop Services \ Remote Desktop Session Hosts \ Device and Resource Redirection \Do not allow clipboard redirection

It is configure as disabled so clipboard work's ? Should I enable ? I am confuse.

I am using windows 8 as host client and my properties tab is enable for clipboard.

With same computer, login as normal user, clipboard does not work and as admin, it does work

Thank you.
