Safenet Authentication Client

Question

Hello,

I ran into this problem during this week.  Everything worked prior to Monday, 15 May, 2017.

The symptoms:

Running Safenet Authentication Client 8.3 on Windows 10 Pro.  Attempting "Run as a different user" results in this:

I can successfully connect to servers via RDC Manager for server at 2008 R2 and below.  For Server 2012, I get this:

I have taken the following steps to no avail and assume (always dangerous) that a recent Windows update did me in.

  1. I uninstalled version 8.3 and rebooted.
  2. I installed version 10 and rebooted
  3. Behavior is still the same
  4. I uninstalled version 10 and rebooted
  5. I re-installed version 8.3 and rebooted
  6. Behavior is still the same.

Safenet has logging, but the logs are all binary :(

The problem was not with the Safenet client, an upper level team found that my local DC (a vm) had been acting up.  They blew it away and installed a new one.  Now it all works.

As it happens on different Windows version sounds like an issue you need Safenet Authentication Client  help on. So do they have forums \ support where you can get help about this?

Hi,

Did you perform an update recently?

I noticed Safenet Authentication Client 8.3 released from 2014, and compatibility with Windows 8.1 and below. But I am not sure if it is full compatibility with Windows 10 after my research.

I found SafeNet has released the latest version Authentication Client 10.3, try to replace 8.3 with the new one.

Is it available to login Windows Server 2012 R2 with password?

According to your second capture, it seems like the symptom related your account privilege. If you can’t with your password, try to contact with domain administrator.

If you could login with password, I suspect there is something wrong with your smart card.

It is recommend to ask for help from Safenet, as they are more familiar with their product and should have more resource to help you.

Best regards,

Joy.
