Can't Export Report to pdf - Access 2016

Question

Monday, April 4, 2016 4:49 PM

When I preview a report in Access 2016, the "PDF or XPS" button on the Data section of the ribbon does not work. I get the following error:

"(Database name) can't save the output data to the file you've selected.  The file may be open.  If so, close it, and then save the output data to the file again.  If you are using a template, check to make sure the template exists. If the file isn't open, check to make sure that you have enough free disk space.  Make sure that the file exists on the path specified.  Check to make sure you have permission to write to the specified folder.  OK."

I have none of the possible conditions existing in the error message.

This button works 10% of the time.  In a business environment, I need it to work 100% of the time.

Thank you.

Hi,

Does it work if you try to save other Office documents as PDF? Such as a Word document?

Does this issue continue on other computer?

Do you have any invalid character (!@#$%">!@#$%^&*():;) in the file name of the PDF file?

Yes, it works from both Word and Excel 2016.  I can't test on another computer, because this is my only computer with Office 2016 installed on it; the rest are 2010 (where I have no problem with pdf).

There are no invalid file characters in the file name.

I read something about Access 2016 being incompatible with Acrobat.  Can that be true?  Surely there must be a pdf maker compatible with Access 2016.

The problem persists.  Any help will be appreciated.

This problem persist since Office 2016/Access 2016 has been deployed

Create PDF or XPS in Access 2016 (.accdb) is no problem.

Create PDF or XPS  from (.accde or .accdr) crashes after 8 minutes.

Command: DoCmd.OutputTo  acOutputReport, "myReport", acFormatPDF ...

At first the DoCmd.OutputTo method works fine.

But if you wait more then 8 minutes and then try to run DoCmd.OutputTo again, Access crashes!

Anyone from Microsoft to respond?

Hello,

Has anyone resolved this issue?   No longer able to send reports as *.pdf or *.xps in access is a problem.

Although export to PDF doesn't work for me, I have found that exporting to email creates an attached PDF??? Yeah, it is a round about work around but I do get the PDF and can save it or send it.
