Has anyone else noticed that Ctrl+key shortcuts don't seem to work in Office 2013 apps consistently all the time?
For instance if I create a new Word document, type three lines of text, then hit Ctrl+A it doesn't select all. So then if I highlight one line of text and do a Ctrl+C it doesn't copy, but if i right-click and choose copy it copies. Then if I hit Ctrl+V it doesn't paste, but if I hit Shift+Insert (as the paste button shows is the shortcut if you hover your mouse over it), it pastes, and if i switch to Notepad and hit Ctrl+V the text pastes fine.

Hi,
According to your description, the issue is that keyboard shortcuts is lost the association.
Please to the File>Option>Customize Ribbon>Customize>Home tab>Edit Copy, and check the keyboard shortcuts if it was removed.
If only some of the keyboard shortcuts don't work, please try to reset the keyboard shortcuts.
And also we can try to repair Office.(1.Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- 2.Click the Office program you want to repair, and then click Change.)
Or try to rename the Normal.dot or Normal.dotm global template file, and then restart Word 2013.
Thanks

Hi George. When I go to that screen, I only have Ctrl+Insert, Ctrl+C is missing. I've already tried a repair on Office, let me try the normal template renaming.

Renaming the normal.dotm did not help. Even if I delete everything out of that folder then open Word, Ctrl+C is still missing.
Maybe I need another repair or to delete another file?

Hi,
Based on my tested, if I removed "Ctrl+C", we can click "Reset all" to recover all the keyboard shortcuts .
Please try to remove "Ctrl+Insert" and then click "Reset all" to test.
Thanks

Tried that, but it only adds Ctrl+Insert back in to it. Let me try a quick repair, and then a full repair if that doesn't work.

Neither a quick repair or full repair fixed it.

Hi,
Did the other Office suits work well? Such as Excel.eg.
If I assign the "Ctrl+C" to the other command, Word will remove the "Ctrl+C" from the "Editcopy" command. One keyboard shortcut associate one command, but maybe one command has more than one keyboard shortcut.
I suggest we assign the keyboard shortcuts to the right command manually.
Thanks

I have the same problems in Outlook too, that's the only other one I really use.

Use antivirus software to do a complete system scan for virus infections, you may try.

I haven't had time to try a full uninstall and reinstall yet. All the other suggestions didn't work.

I had a similar problem, although most everyone else has likely figured this solution out already -- I was using the left Ctrl key, but only the right Ctrl key works with the shortcuts. So, I hope this helps someone.

I recently began having this same problem with Ctrl+Home. It seems to be across all the MS Office 2013 Suite. I've seen it in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint for sure. Ctrl+End works as expected (with either the left or right Ctrl key, btw), but Ctrl+Home does nothing.

George, your solution solved the problem I had in Word. Ctrl-leftarrow stopped working. I opened an existing docx document, followed your steps, selected All Commands, found Ctrl-LeftArrow and the keystrokes were blank. I held down Ctrl and pressed the left-arrow key. That solved the problem. One comment: after making the change, save the document you opened. You'll be told that Normal.dotm was changed and asked if it should be saved. Be sure to click Yes.
