Hi ,
I think it might be related to Remote Desktop Connection cache. Refer to the following link to reset Clear Remote Desktop Connection, check if it helps.
How to Reset and Clear Remote Desktop Connection History in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10

Same here! Password changed several days ago. Computer restarted several times. There is only one account on that pc (microsoft account, not local). I can still use my old password! (only on accessing that computer, when trying to login to microsoft account in browser, only the new password is accepted)

I found a solution. Convert your account to a local account. Settings > Accounts > Your info > Sign in with a local account instead. Then sign into your Microsoft account again from that Your info page. This updates the Remote Desktop Connection password to your current Microsoft password.

I have the exact same problem - RDP still remembers an old password from months ago. Tried the solutions in this thread, but no luck.
Any other suggestions.
thanks

What FINALLY worked for me for this super annoying problem:
Open a PowerShell prompt or a normal command prompt and run the following command which will just open yet another command prompt - however it also seems to cause the credentials to sync locally.
runas /u MicrosoftAccount\username]@live.com cmd.exe
I initially tried this based on some other forum using [username]@live.com only, the key was prefixing the MicrosoftAccount\ domain. What a royal pain in the @ss.
After doing so, I was able to RDP using my current credentials - old one no longer works.
