Dear Friend ,

I have installed and configured domain controller 2012 r2 and also configured dns with forward and reverse lookupzone. Added host record and pointer . But when I am opening nslookup I am getting following sms

Default  Server : localhost

Address: 127.0.0.1

I have configured ip address as mentioned bellow :

IP: 192.168.0.50

Host name: dc

FQDN: dc.testall.local

Subnet Mask: 255.25.255.0

Getway : 192.168.0.1

DNS: 192.168.0.50

IPV6 = Dissabled

Could you please tell me what need to be done

Regards

Abhimanyu

My Answer:

Hi,

Based on your question, we conducted relevant experiments.

Would you please post the result of running ipconfig/all at the command prompt on the computer to let us know the machine’s configuration?

According to my test results, if the preferred DNS is 127.0.0.1 then Nslookup query will show localhost.

If we change the preferred DNS server IP address to itself, then Nslookup query will show the complete FQDN and the corresponding IP address.

Hope this can help you, if you have anything unclear, please let me know.

Have a nice day!

Allan
