Question

Hi,
Could anybody help with this?
I am using Microsoft remote Desktop version 10.2.2 on my Mac to connect to the server at work (Windows Server 2016). For the last couple of months it has been continually disconnecting when the connection is idle for anything over 10 minutes which is really frustrating. A message comes up saying that the connection is idle & the Idle timer will disconnect in 2 minutes unless you click to stay connected.
I have double checked all settings on my Mac & on the server (others can connect to it no problem & stay connected) & can see nothing at all that would cause it. Does anyone have any ideas??
Thanks

I use the remove desktop connection manager v2.7 from a vm running on my Mac. The Mac microsoft Remote Desktop app v10.2.4 disconnects, while the same connection stays up in windows connection manager.
This is a software issue/setting that has caused quite a bit of pain for many.

I would suggest speaking with your IT Department, this could be something that has been configured by your administrator. The idle disconnect time is specified on the server rather than on the client.
Hope that helps.

Thanks but it's not a Server issue - IT have checked it out & everyone else connects in fine. It appears to be specific to my Windows Remote desktop when used on the Mac.

Hi DB,
Please refer to Microsoft doc for detailed configurations.
Get started with Remote Desktop on Mac
/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/clients/remote-desktop-mac
I see that you are using Microsoft remote Desktop version 10.2.2, the latest build of Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac is 10.2.3(1307), try it to test result.

Thanks Kevin. I am also using V 10.2.4 & had hoped that the last two updates may have fixed the problem - but it's still no better. I am just hoping that one day there will be an update which resolves it as it is highly inconvenient. I can't think of anything else I can do other than patiently wait!

Having this issue with 10.2.4 as well. Only happens if I'm idle on the Remote Desktop.

I have been experiencing the same but after upgrading to MacOS 10.14 and Remote desktop 10.2.4. I finally gave up and installed Remote desktop 8 which I had on a backup disk. All works fine now. No disconnections.
