VS 2013 update 5 or VS 2015 fails with KB2829760 error

Hi,

Windows 7 64 Enterprise SP1.

I'm having a problem updating my existing VS 2013 prof installation or installing a new one (2015).

Both fails when applaying KB2829760 package.

Steps I've taken so far:

-tried online and offline installation (with cheksum checked)

-cleared all temp folders

-lowered User Account Control privileges

- finally run separatly the kb2829760.msp package itself. With no success, so I quess the problem lies in there.

Please help me on that issue, any sugestions would appreciated.

By the way, I think you can manually copy the content to your cache:

cached package: vc_kb2829760_patch_D12, from path: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\E164652A-0EB8-430B-AB4C-8814B7234997}

Then try install it from that cache to see the result. If it doesn't help, then as always we need to check logs in %temp% folder. The 0x80070643 is a general error, some more info should be logged in the %temp% folder.

Mostly likely you are working with corrupt package. Download the ISO image and then try again.

Can you check your %temp% folder to see if there is vc_kb2829760 log? We need more error details other than just the general error 0x80070643
