Hello,

I'd like to know if the following group policy also works for Microsoft Edge :

Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed

If it's not the case what is the group pocicy setting for Microsoft Edge.

Kind regards.

Hello LMichel

Thanks for your question, regarding it I'd like to let you know that the answer absolutely it is positive, the GPO that would delete files contained in the Temporary Internet Files folder does works for Edge too.

The reason is that for Edge, IE and other standard set up for another browsers will storage the temporary files in the same folder and the GPO sends the instruction to the O.S. to move those to the recycle.bin once no internet traffic is detected via the http/https protocols and the last session is marked as over. Also most of them are temporary files set up to be deleted by the trash collector after some storage period but as a security or to have better control over the environment you can force the pace of those via GPO.

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

Do you want to clear browser data when exit?

You can go to local group editor->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Microsoft Edge

Please feel free to let me know if you need any assistance.

Have a nice day!

Best Regards,

Eric

My understanding of that settings is that it will clear browsing history not temporary files.

Please have a look at Erick Rivera's answer.
