Is there anyway to remove shadows from line graphs in MOSS2010?

Question

Hey guys,

I'm using the default chart part that comes with sharepoint 2010, but whenever I make line graphs the lines have very distracting shadows that get in the way. I was wondering if there was anyway to remove the shadows or draw the graphs without them?

Hi KoopahTroopah,

Yes, you can do this by changing the shadow offset.

  1. On the chart web part click "advanced properties"
  2. Select the series element by clicking "Series" under "select an element" on the left side
  3. Leave series menu as "Default"
  4. In the appearance group locate "ShadowOffset" and change it to 0
  5. Click the Finish button and you should have a graph with no drop shadows

Cheers,
Reeves

Hi KoopahTroopah,

I am working with Nevron Chart web part for MOSS 2010 and it works great. The chart web part designer is very easy to use and allows configuring all elements of the chart.

Through the chart web part designer you can select from numerous charting types and combinational charts. You can also bind to different data sources (like SharePoint lists, Excel services or SQL Server data base) and configure even the smallest visual chart details – you can select from different shadow effects or to remove them with just few clicks.

You can check Nevron Chart for SharePoint 2010: http://www.nevron.com/Products.ChartForSharePoint.Overview.aspx

If you have any specific requirements, I am sure that the Nevron team will assist you like they did for my project. I will gladly recommend these web parts to any SharePoint professional.

Cheers,
