A Setup package is either missing or damaged

Hi,

I am trying to install Microsoft visual studio 2015 on my windows 10 but i am facing an issue with this "A setup package is either missing or damaged".I tried downloading packages from internet but it didn't work.I tried to run it as administrator but it didn't work.In the third option please provide a location to search for the packages the path is :

C:\Users\tfr\AppData\Local\Temp\A7671ACC-0B43-4D05-A06C-5E7FDDAEDAB8}\packages\Win81_SDK\Windows Software Development Kit for Windows Store Apps DirectX x86 Remote-x86_en-us.msi

I have no idea what should be done to resolve this.please assist me.

This error message indicates that the VS install packages are missing or corrupted.

Did you install it with web installer?

If so, to eliminate internet variables, I suggest that you download the ISO, verify the SHA-1 to ensure the ISO is not corrupt, then repair and  install locally.

please use FCIV.exe http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290  to verify hash of the ISO.

Your OS is win 10, but the missing package is Win 8.1 SDK. Just make sure that you have installed Win 10 SDK will be ok. here is the download link:

Thanks for the reply.

I have installed Win10 sdk and tried installing the visual studio again.The previous missing package error was resolved and new package was missing.I'm sharing you the path

C:\Users\tfr\AppData\Local\Temp\7C1F0691-660B-42D1-9AD8-439BDF163233}\packages\SharedManagementObjects_x86\SharedManagementObjects.msi

You suggested me to download the iso file which is 7.1gb but due to slow internet connection,the iso file is always corrupted or the download gets crashed whenever there is a internet connection failure or power failure.I'm attempting to download the iso file again and meanwhile if you can suggest me any solution for the above missing package to resolve the problem it would be a great help.

Hi Narayan98,

Thanks for offering the missing msi package, but currently there is not such a separate package for it to download.

You may go to Control Panel >Programs >Programs and Features, click Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 and choose on 'repair'. it will automatically repair some missing files.

Or do you have any other computer with good network connection, you may download a good ISO there, then manually find the missing file and copy it to the location specified on the missing computer.

At the same time  how about installing the VS update 3 and apply it to your VS.

It might fix some original problem.
