Question

Wednesday, May 10, 2017 8:19 PM

Trying to create a VHD from the C drive on Server 2003

It says starting snapshot then just crashes every time. It closes with no reason or error.

The event log has this error:

Faulting application disk2vhd.exe, version 2.1.0.0, faulting module vssapi.dll, version 5.2.3790.1830, fault address 0x0002cbbd.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Thanks

Hi,

you can try to perform P2V migration using MVMC3.1 ..check here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42497

Please note: Support of MVMC3.1 by Microsoft will officially ends on June  03, 2017

Also, you might want to spend some time reading posts in this forum on the topic of performing a P2V of Windows Server 2003 physical machines.  It is not recommended.  You will see a lot of issues and sometimes somebody gets one to work.  And even if they do succeed, they are still in an unsupported configuration.

Recommendation: Create a new VM and install Windows Server 2003 and the application.

Best Recommendation: Upgrade the application to a supported version of the operating system.

Hi HovaSavage,

Since Server 2003 is out of support, please upgrade to later OS, so that you may get new features and better support.

Best Regards,

Anne
