The wireless display adapter app has a checkbox to require a PIN. Selecting this seem to do nothing.
Where can one configure that PIN.

Hi,
Could you give us a screenshot to explain your issue?
This App has a configuration to prevent others from pairing with or using your adapter without your permission, you can change the pairing mode to “Requires a PIN code to pair.” With this setting turned on, anyone trying to connect to your adapter will have to be able to see your HDTV, monitor, or projector to get the pairing code. Here’s how to enable this setting:
Step 1: Tap or click Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter to open the app.
Step 2: Under Pairing mode, tap or click Requires PIN code to pair.
Windows remembers connected devices, so the adapter won’t prompt you to enter a PIN if you connect to it using the same computer.
If you try to connect to the adapter using a new device, your HDTV, monitor, or projector will display a randomly generated PIN. Enter the PIN in the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter app on your computer, and tap or click Next to connect.

A screenshot obviously won't help here.
Thanks for describing the intended but undocumented behavior.
In my case selecting "requires a pin" does not cause the TV adapter to prompt for a pin.Did your try this yourself?

Is the sentence "Windows remembers connected devices, so the adapter won’t prompt you to enter a PIN if you connect to it using the same Surface." supposed to mean: for the first PC requiring a PIN the adapter does not display a PIN to be entered at all, only for different PCs after the first?

Hi,
I suggest you contact the Surface forum for more professional help. Since here we have no surface device to do test.

Hey - was this solved? This thread ranks high on Google when I was searching for the same thing. I'm just using a W10 laptop, not a surface.
The option to turn on the PIN is there, but how do you set the PIN? Also it doesn't seem to do anything.

You are trying to wifi request the adapter to connect to your device. You need to have it go the other way. Try something different other than hitting the WiFi Direct region. It does work. You just need to hit like Miracast or cast and not wifi direct because you are requesting the opposite thing to happen. Hope that helps!
