Event Viewer is still not working...

Question

Saturday, January 14, 2017 5:02 PM

The registry entry is:  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp

But it brings you to the microsoft Store?

It seems it has been broken for a long time. When will it be fixed??

Go for a System Restore.

Select any restore point when there was no such problem.

Check the following settings:

Run services.msc and hit Enter to open the Services Manager. Right- click on Windows Event Log Service, check up its Properties. Ensure that the Startup type is set on Automatic and that the services is Started; and that it runs in the Local Service account.

This hasn't worked in months. I do not think a 'restore' is the correct answer because it never worked.

I just assumed the issues were at MS side, but now I really need to solve some problems and need the EventLog Service running.

Win10 has a Service named 'Local Session Manager' which is Automatic and running.

Can you clarify what is not working in Event Viewer? Are events visible are there multiple sections for the events?

The 'Event Log Online Help' link goes the MS site, has done for months. Is that what you mean does not work?

Hello Mr Happy.

That is exactly my problem. Forgive me for mis-stating the issue.  'Event Viewer' works and shows me the  critical issues but when I open 'Event Online Help' >

Well not been working for awhile now, Win10 event log online help links redirect to Microsoft Store ads from May 05, 2016.

The work-around listed in that thread does not have Windows 10 as an operating system. That page may help but really can only confirm this is case it has been going to the MS homepage and been like for sometime.
