Onenote Online - Images won't display

Question

Hi all,

We've recently noticed an issue where images won't display in Onenote Online. If we select 'Open in Onenote' and open in the full desktop version, images display absolutely fine, but just won't show in that online view. I'm really not sure what's caused it, but if anyone has any ideas or has experienced something similar please let me know!

Thanks

Mike

The issue was down to a certificate that needed re-binding on the Office Online server.

Now resolved.

Hi Mike,

Based on your description, I tested this problem in my environment with OneNote 2016 and OneNote online. I insert .png and .jpg but all images display fine in OneNote Online.

What kind of Picture type did you use?

What browser do you use?

I suggest you check the antivirus in your environment and make sure it don't disable block any images for your browser.

Then please try to change a browser to open the OneNote online and check the result.

Any updates please let me know and I'm glad to help you.

Regards,

Emi

Hi Emi,

Thanks for replying!

1. All images are failing to display, whether .jpg or .png, even images from the OneNote snipping tool are fialing to display. It's only in the online version though, in OneNote 2016 desktop it's absolutely fine!

2. I've tested in IE (v11), Chrome, Firefox and Edge, same result in all of them.

3. Hmm this is what I thought maybe. I had a look at the Antivirus on the Office Online Server and couldn't see anything being blocked. I'll investigate a bit more and see if I missed something.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

How about cleaning temp files in Windows?

Reset IE and check the result.

Emi

Hi Emi,

Just tried doing exactly that, still no luck. Also couldn't find anything in anti-virus blocking images. Really stumped here!

Did the images display in desktop OneNote?

Yes. They display perfectly fine in Desktop OneNote.

It's only OneNote Online that they won't display.

I have the same exact issue. I've imported a screenshot into OneNote app & it appears fine in both the app version & OneNote 2016. All I get is a place holder when trying to access through OneNote Online.

How does the certificate get re-binded? IOs that done through my end?
