Question

Hi.
In our company we used to buy new computers with Windows 7 Pro OEM.
We then used a Volume License Media of Windows 7 Pro to create a standard installation, sysprep it and re-image the computers with OEM License.
The right to do it is described in Microsoft document called "Reimaging Rights".
So far, this document does not say anything about Windows 10. Does anyone know where I can find information about this process and the right media we should buy to reimage Windows 10 OEM machines?
Thank you.

From what I understand, the VL Brief is still correct, despite not having been updated to include "Windows 10" terminology.

Hi,
Reimaging rights is defined as deploying or copying the software (Windows 10) onto multiple devices from a “golden” or consistent image. If you are deploying Windows 10 across multiple devices and want to create a standard golden image for deployment, you’re required to use Volume License media bits and key when creating your image.
The minimum requirement for reimaging rights in Windows 10 is to have “Systems pool” licensing within a Microsoft Volume Licensing (VL) agreement. By having Systems pool within your VL agreement, you gain access to download the Volume License media and keys for Windows 10 Professional (and downgraded OS (n-2)) within the Microsoft Volume License Service Center (VLSC).
Open License & Open Value customers must purchase 1ea Windows 10 Pro Upgrade license to gain access to the VL media/keys for Windows.
If you don’t already have a VL agreement with a Windows 10 Pro Upgrade license, only 1 of the 5 licenses to start a new Open License agreement needs to be Windows 10. The other 4 licenses can technically be any other license offered under that VL agreement.

Hi. For Windows 7 we bought the VL media through Open License.
I just found strange not find any references to Windows 10 in "Reimaging Rights" document even after almost a year it was released.
Moreover, when I call a Microsoft partner they do want to sell another license for each computer which already have an OEM license. Any of you know what is the part number of Windows 10 Volume License Media I need to buy through Open License to create the master image? It has been a nightmare to get this information from a Microsoft Partner.
Thank you.

Have you tried to contact the VLSC?

Hi.
Yes. I did try by email, but for these purposes they asked me to call by phone.
In the past I used a chat to talk to a Microsoft license specialist. But, unfortunatelly it doesn't exists anymore.
