Hi Sokoban,

If you want to connect to another subnet, you need to have an router to forward the packet between two subnets.

Thanks for your time!

Anne

Hi Sokoban,

>I wiill I go further to solve a additional subnet to connect the AD in the subnet ?

1. What is the DC, a physical Server or VM set in the Hyper V?

2. If the DC is a VM, who need to connect to the DC, VMs on the same Hyper V host in a different subnet or others?

If the DC is a physical Server, who need to connect to the DC, VMs on hyper V host connect to external virtual switch?

3. If you are talking about VMs in different subnets, then, we may set a VM with RRAS role to route the packets in different subnets.

4. If you are talking about VMs in different subnets connects to external virtual switch to connect to DC in different physical subnets, then, we may use physical router device to route the traffic.

Thanks for your time!

Anne

Hi Anne

Thanks for you answer :-) ...

1. What is the DC, a physical Server or VM set in the Hyper V?

Physical in another subnet.

2. If the DC is a VM, who need to connect to the DC, VMs on the same Hyper V host in a different subnet or others?

Different Subnet

If the DC is a physical Server, who need to connect to the DC, VMs on hyper V host connect to external virtual switch?

Yes, How can I do that ? I have 2 physical NIC on HyperV server.

3. If you are talking about VMs in different subnets, then, we may set a VM with RRAS role to route the packets in different subnets.

Ok, Do you have guide for that ?

4. If you are talking about VMs in different subnets connects to external virtual switch to connect to DC in different physical subnets, then, we may use physical router device to route the traffic.

Hi Sokoban,

Please check if I understand the scenario correctly, if there's any misunderstanding, please feel free to correct me.

Just an example:

Hyper V host has two physical NICs, for example, one NIC 192.168.2.5, another 192.168.3.5.

VM on the host in subnet 192.168.2.0/24.

DC on physical network in subnet 192.168.3.0/24.

If so, we have two choices:

1. If the VMs don't care which subnet to locate, we may create an external virtual switch that connect to 192.168.3.5 adapter. Then, VMs connect to this external virtual switch, and if the physical network has DHCP server, the VM will get an 192.168.3.0/24 IP, it can connect to DC directly.

2. If the VMs must in 192.168.2.0/24 subnet, then we may create an external virtual switch that connect to 192.168.2.5 adapter. VMs connect to this external virtual switch, get an dynamic or static IP address in 192.168.2.0/24 subnet.

In physical network, we need to have a router that forward packets between the two subnets. For the router configuration, we need to consult the router device vendor. Once the router has configured, we do not need to other things on the machines, the VM can connect to DC at that time.

Thanks for your time! If there's anything unclear, please feel free to let me know.

Best Regards,

Anne

No

I have subnet in t.ex. Stockholm, like 192.168.2.5 and in Goteborg is 192.168.3.5

In Stockholm I have HyperV and need to connect to the DC in Goteborg.

The Hyperv server physical and have Two Network card,

Do you understand my scenario ?

Hi Sokoban,

Got it.

Then what is the IP addresses of the two NICs on the Hyper V host.

If the IP address of the two NICs are in the two subnets, please refer to my above reply.

Thanks for your time!

Anne
