failed to install VS2010 with error of vc 9.0 runtime

I tried many ways to install VS2010,but failed again and again with vc 9.0 runtime.

I tried install VS2010 on a clean x64 win7 OS.

I tried uninstall any component associated with Microsoft visual C++ 2005 and 2008.

I confirm the ISO is correct, because I can install it on another machine.
But none of above works!

I suspect that it may be conflict with Thinkpad software or x64 win7 OS( My machine is Thinkpad T400)

I have spent 3 days to install VS2010!

I am crazy! Help me!

Could you please help me to check whether you can directly install VC 9.0 runtime on your Windows 7 machine?

For the ISO image, please:
   - Extract the ISO image, to your local computer, that you have just created using something like WinZip

Then please go to the path: ....\WCU\VC90SP1\ and then try the installation of VC 9.0 runtime alone by clicking on the vc_red.msi file.

After the VC 9.0 runtime has been installed, please run the Visual Studio 2010 installer again.

Hi happytian,

I had the same problem. I actually extracted the VC9 from the Ultimate ISO and was able to install it separately, and then the VS2010 installation (of the Premium version) completed successfully.

The VS team assured me the Premium and Ultimate versions have the same VC9 redist in them, and I believe them, so maybe it was just something wonky. Try pulling the VC9 bit out of the ISO and installing it and see if that works, and if it does, then try installing VS2010 again.

Hi Christian.Blunden,

I have solved this problem by reinstalling the system. I spent two weeks installing vs2010, but failed again and again. I spent one day reinstalling the system, it worked. When I installed the drive software, I fount that a drive named power manager will install Visual C++2008 Redistributable and Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. So I installed the vs2010 first, and then installed the power manager, luckily it worked. But before I reinstall the system, I uninstall both Visual C++2008 Redistributable and Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, and then installed vs2010, but it didn't work. I don't know the reason.

For better understanding to other community members, here is the summary on this issue:

After some offline discussion with Happytian, Happytian told me that that machine was clean but just had the drive software installed. Then I suggested him to restore his OS >> install VS2010 first >> install the drive software.

I am sorry it doesn't work. When I directly install VC 9.0 runtime on my Windows 7 machine. It says "To install this product, please run Setup.exe. For other installation options, see the installation section of ReadMe.htm."

Some clarification with you:
What's the exact error message you got?
Did you install Visual Studio 2010 on the harddrive/harddisk?

Could you help me to check whether you install VS2010 with the Administrator account?
Please make sure, to disable the Anti-Virus software during installation

If the problem still exists, could you please follow the following steps to collect the log files for further troubleshooting?

• Try to clean your "%temp%" folder (Start Menu >> Run >> Type "%temp%")
  - Install VS2010
    (The installer must be run with administrator privileges - Right-click the installer >> "Run as Administrator")
• Collect the logs from "%temp%" folder
     Collect tool: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e0da314f-6216-4a18-bc6b-7d29cf83af20&displaylang=en
  - Send vslogs.cab file to me ([email protected])
    Note: Please attach the link of this post in the mail.

Time waste in extracting.

I used daemon tools to mount image(as a new cd/dvd ram) and installed vs2010 premium.

Ofcourse I could not install the other versions on my win 7 x64

I am having this problem also. I can not install any version of Visual Studio 2010 (express + professionsal) as it fails on the install of VC Runtime x86.

I previously had the Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 installed, and followed all steps to un-install before trying the RTM.

I have also tried running the VC9 manually from the ISO as stated above, which fails with error 1935.

I have un-installed all the existing Visual 2008 C++ redistributables and have even gone as far as to uninstall ALL visual studio installations.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Short of re-installing windows (which I am not prepared to do) what else is there to try?

Have you tried unzipping the ISO and pulling out the VC9 install to a separate folder and trying it? I don't know if you're trying to do it from the ISO mounted as a drive, or what. Also, be sure when you right-click on it to run it, you choose RunAsAdministrator (never hurts).

BTW, the new VC9 redist runs side-by-side with the other C++ redistributables.

And did you check the SHA1 on your ISO file to make sure it wasn't corrupted? We had a problem with another ISO file that was corrupted, and couldn't install VC9 from there.

I'm trying to install VS2010 Professional on an Vista Professional Machine but I'm having this "VC9 runtime issue"

I tryed but I can't install vc_red.msi alone as mentioned here

It says "To install this product please run Setup.exe"

Can I download it from somewhere?

You can provide some command line arguments which will allow it to be run.. I can not remember these from the top of my head, but I could see them from the error log.  Note though, this did not work.. failed with error 1904, the same as when running the the intstaller.

For us, the Visual Studio installer would fail until the computer has an active internet connection.
