This applies to my Dell laptop. It's in the workgroup, it works fine with <g class="gr_ gr_30 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins doubleReplace replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="30" id="30">wifi</g> network and wired network with DHCP. However, now I want to configure static IP (IPv4) on the NIC and I got that error message above.
First, there's neither Hyper-V nor VMware installed on this laptop. Second, there's no Bridge Network and I could not set static IP.
Works performed and no luck!
- uninstalled NIC and reinstalled, updated driver in device manager and no luck! worse, the NIC did not show up in Network Connection!
- System restore (restore point) to <g class="gr_ gr_35 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="35" id="35">previous</g> one and it had some error (could not <g class="gr_ gr_34 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" data-gr-id="34" id="34">completed</g> successfully). However, the NIC showed up in Network Connection and I still was not able to set static IP for it.
When I looked into its detail. It did set itself autoconfiguration IPv4. It is not disabled.
I ran diagnostic and it said 'Ethernet' doesn't have a valid IP configuration. Of course, it doesn't. It neither DHCP nor Static but Autoconfigure at this moment.
A registry fix could be but I don't know which keys. Thanks in advance for your help.

Well from Fix network connection issues
Take a restore point first (just in case it makes thing worst which I have heard in one case)
From an admin command prompt (right click start, Command Prompt (Admin) )
netcfg –d
That will delete all network interfaces, then reboot let them install and see if that helps.

Make sure the DHCP Server does not have any "Reserved" IP Addresses or Range. Also make sure that there is not another device on the network that already has the IP address you are trying to use.
