Where is the option to have users to prompt for username and password on intranet sites? <o:p></o:p>
It is not hiding under about:flags page or the Advance Setting window. <o:p></o:p>
This is easy to find under IE, chrome, Firefox and Yandix.

You need to set that in IE, as Edge is taking the settings from there.

That clearly is not the case.
Download and watch the video (no audio). It clearly shows that Edge Browser is NOT using IE setting for details.

So again, EXACTLY where can you set this for Edge browser?

Hi Garth Jones,
Have you configured the options in Internet Explorer to have a check?
We could configure the following options to have a check.
Tools\Advanced settings\Disable "Offer to save passwords" and choose "Manage passwords", delete the saved passwords.
As far as I know, there is no option in Edge to configure this feature.
Best regards

As per the video, the setting are setup to Prompt for User Name and password. Again, see the attached screenshot.
"Offer to save passwords" has been disabled and there are no Passwords saved for this site.
Cleanly Edge does have another place for this setting. As it is clearly NOT using IE setting for this.

Hi Garth Jones,
Did the Internet Explorer prompted for password and name of the Intranet website everytime now? Did the Edge prompt for the user name and password for the first time?
As far as I know, there should be a authentication method included in the specific webpage to prompt for the user name and password.
If the Microsoft Edge didn`t prompt for "User name and password" for the first time to access the website, I suspect the "authentication" method is not compatible with Edge.
If the Microsoft Edge did prompt for "User name and password" for the first time to access the website, please clear the related credentials from the "Credential Manager". Uncheck all the proxy configurations to have a troubleshoot.
Settings\Network and Internet\Proxy
Just as Vadim Shupak pointed out, the Microsoft Edge take the configurations from the Internet Explorer. Here is a link for reference:

Yes, IE does prompt for password every time.
No, Edge never prompted for user name and password.
MS SQL server (SSRS) clearly does have an proper authentication method. All other browsers, including Firefox, chrome, yandex, and opera fully work and prompt for username and password.
I'm sorry to say but uservoice site is NOT proof of anything. As you already know I can post anything I want to uservoice too. Therefore by your logic, it would be 100% proof that Edge does not in fact use IE for these setting. The video that I posted clearly show that Edge is NOT honoring the IE setting. I don't buy your claim that MS SQL Server is not compatible with Edge. There is not way that MS would create a browser that wouldn't work with MS SQL server.

Hi Garth Jones,
I have talked with our SQL team colleagues. This behavior could be configured from the server side.
"The Realm property controls whether the user is authenticated for the entire site or only a portion of the site. In the latter case, if the user attempts to access another portion of the site, the report server will prompt the user for credentials."

I'm sorry to say this, but you post make no sense. What EXACTLY does this have to do with EDGE browser? Why do you think I want to do this on the server side? (BTW, I don't want to set this on the server side, if I did I would have asked in the SQL forum)
You stated that Edge browser use the IE Setting on (Friday, December 04, 2015 3:35 AM). IE, Yandex, Opera, and Chrome also all use these same settings. However if this is the case, Edge is clearly ignoring those setting and therefore IMO, this is a HUGE security issue with the Edge browser.
Again WHERE EXACTLY is the Edge browser setting for prompting for user name and password? Similar to one found within IE as per my screenshot from "Wednesday, December 02, 2015 2:10 PM"?

We are seeing this same behavior in our environment. Users are prompted for credentials in Edge when trying to access any intranet site (where as IE does not prompt and is passing the Windows Credentials). We planned on just hiding Edge for this reason and force users to IE.... but even Cortana seems to be having this issue. As soon as you click the start button Cortana asks for domain credentials to access our internal proxy server.

Hi Jake Dunn,
Your symptom is totally opposite with Garth Jones`s issue. He wants Microsoft Edge to prompt for credentials when we access any intranet site.
It would be much appreciated if you could share us how you make the Edge work like that. It would be very helpful to Garth Jones`s case.
Best regards

Here in the company we are having the same issue as Jake Dunn, where Edge doesn't pick up the username and password where IE does.
So, we use Enterprise Mode Site List and every intranet website opened in Edge is automatic reroute to IE based on our list.

I have since determine what the problem is.
Edge will only grab the setting ONCE from IE. After that any changes to the IE setting are ignored! We have told the MS teams about this issue and we were told basically "too bad" Edge is a user browser NOT an enterprise browser.
As such, I NEVER recommend Edge to any client as it is NOT enterprise ready. Whereas IE, Chrome , Firefox, Yandix, and Opera are enterprise ready. Edge is still not enterprise ready after ~14 months after this post was created. And from what I hear it will never be either, as such I recommend use IE or Chrome for your main browser.

Old question, but I have been struggling with this as well, and can see the same behavior that you reported. Such an odd bug in Edge. All other browsers take the setting that is set in Internet Options and apply it every time. But not Edge, it reads the setting once and that is then the set configuration for that user as long as their profile exists on that workstation.
I did find a workaround though. For the particular site that I wanted to allow/disallow Windows Integrated Authentication (WIA) I created two separate group policies. For the users that I wanted to allow WIA I applied a policy to them that placed the site in the "Local Intranet" zone. For users that I wanted to be prompted for username and password I applied a policy to them to place the site in "Trusted Sites" (or you could use "Internet" zone). Your "Intranet zone" should have WIA configured for "Automatic Logon only in Intranet zone". As long as your other zones are configured for WIA "Automatic Logon only in Intranet zone" or "Prompt for username and password" your allow/disallow policies will work.

Not sure if we are talking about the same problem but this may be what you need. In Edge open:
Settings, View Advanced Settings, AutoFill Settings, Manage Passwords
Go to the Never saved set at the bottom
If the website of interest is in that list delete it.
Next time you open that website you will be prompted to save the password.
You can also remove a website from the Saved list.
