Changing the Color of text on task bar from black to white?

Question

Thursday, May 31, 2018 2:20 PM

How do I change the task bar color from black to white. I accedently changed it to black while in high contrast settings. And now when I go back to "None" it made my text black which makes it difficult to see with a black task bar. How do I reset to default settings or change it to white.

Hi!

You can change back the color of your taskbar via Settings.

1) Right-click on desktop and then click Personalize option to Personalization section of Settings app.

2) In the left-pane, click Colors to see various settings on the right.

3) In here you will see your selected colors, pick the color you want.

4) On the right-side, you have the option Show color on Start, taskbar, and action center. You can turn the Automatically pick an accent color from my background setting on / off depending on what you want.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Leon

Thanks for the response.

That changes the color of my task bar, but my text is still black. Do you know if there's a way to just change the text white?

You can change the text color by following the steps below:

Click on **Windows **icon in your task bar > Settings > Personalization > Colors > scroll down to the bottom and click High Contrast Themes/Settings > choose one of the High Contrast Themes from the Choose a theme drop down menu. Then click on appropriate color fields and choose your colors.

You may want to see this kind of interface:

It’s easy. Two steps:

1. Settings > Personalization > Colors >High contrast settings

2. turn on high contrast.

If you don’t want so high-contrast, only choose Dark mode on Choose your default app mode option

Have a try.

Regards

Neither of these two solutions work for windows 10 fall creator version 1803.  Task bar text is black and I still cannot change it to white.

Please try the following.

reg.exe add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ThemeManager" /v "DllName" /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /d ^%SystemRoot^%\Resources\Themes\aero\aero.msstyles /f

Then sign off and on again.
