Suppress First things first

Question

Friday, May 27, 2016 2:21 PM

I want to suppress first things first pop up when launched word for the first time. I saw a post where this can be disabled by GPO. But, I need some registry to do that, I've tried the below,

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Registration]
"AcceptAllEulas"=dword:00000001

But, I still see that window when launched first time.

this article should be helpful:

https://www.autoitconsulting.com/site/deployment/automating-office-365-click-run-first-use-without-group-policy/

For Office2013, it's : HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\
For Office2016, it's : HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\

(from the admin template) Specifically for the "First run..." :

File Name:
office16.admx

Policy Setting Name:
***Disable Opt-in Wizard on first run ***

Scope:
User

Policy Path:
Microsoft Office 2016\Privacy\Trust Center

Registry Information:
HKCU\software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\common\general!shownfirstrunoptin

Supported On:
At least Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7

Explain Text:
This policy setting controls whether users see the Opt-in Wizard the first time they run a Microsoft Office 2016 application.

If you enable this policy setting, the Opt-in Wizard does not display the first time users run an Office 2016 application.

If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, the Opt-in Wizard displays the first time users run a Microsoft Office 2016 application,
which allows them to opt into Internet--based services that will help improve their Office experience,
such as Microsoft Update, the Customer Experience Improvement Program, Office Diagnostics, and Online Help.

Or, you can follow this guide, do it with the Office Customisation Tool (if you use Office MSI technology)

Don [doesn't work for MSFT, and they're probably glad about that ;]
