In Windows 10 v1703 build 15063.608 using File Explorer
If I navigate to a folder/file the creation date is displayed.
If I search the folder, the creation date is shown.
If I search a folder level at least one level higher, the last modified date is shown.
Nice feature. NOT! Consider consistency.
You might want to aslo consider changing the path back to the way it was long ago and the way it is when you click on it. Yes, I can make the full path appear in the title bar.
As it has become, it seems to confuse even senior members of the windows ten forum.
Sometimes change is not good. If it ain't broken, don't break it.

This is posted in the Windows Windows Server Update Services forum, you would be better posting in one of Windows10 IT Pro forums.
The date shown is configurable per folder.
1. Right click the "Date" button field on top where the wrong date is showing. (not the file but the header for that column)
2. then choose "Date modified" then right click again and uncheck "Date created"
Alternatively you can reset all folders to default, File Explorer View Options, then on the View tab Reset Folders.
