Question

Hi,
I have an Excel 2013 dashboard workbook where a linked picture is included from another source workbook. When the dashboard is opened, the linked picture does not reflect the latest updates done in source workbook. Following are the steps
1. Updated source workbook and close it
2. Open dashboard workbook. Shows the message to 'Update from external sources'. Clicked 'Update'
3. Linked Picture stays the same
4. Tried Data > Edit Links > Update Values. Then Status column in the popup shows 'Warning: Open source to update values'
In the same file, normal linked values (not pictures) from the source workbook do get updated, even without opening the source.
How can I get the linked picture to update, without having to open the source workbook?
Thanks for the help!

Please follow the following steps carefully:
Manually Update all of the Links or None:
**1. **Close all workbooks. If one source workbook is open, and others are closed, the updates will not be uniform
**2. **Open the workbook that contains the links.
3. To update the links, on the Trust Bar, click Options, and then click Enable this Content.
Manually Update Some of the Links to Other Workbook:
**1. **Close all workbooks.
2. Open the workbook that contains the links.
3. On the Data tab, in the Manage Connections group, click Edit Links.
4. In the Source list, click the linked object that you want to update.
To select multiple links, hold down CTRL and click each linked object.
To select all links, press CTRL+A.
5. Click Update Values.
Decide Wheather to Update the link Automatically at StartUp or After StartUp:
**1. **Click the Microsoft Office Button, click Excel Options, and then click the Advanced category.
2. Under When calculating this workbook, clear the Ask to update automatic links check box. If this check box is clear, the links are automatically updated, and no prompt is displayed.
Note: The above steps are copied from Office Support page.
Please let me know if it works.
Thank you.
