Cannot add to the server Junk EMail lists, you are over the size allowed

We recently upgraded our in house Exchange Server from 2010 to 2016. Some of our users are receiving the "Cannot add to the server Junk EMail lists, you are over the size allowed...." message when they attempt to make a change to their Junk EMail settings.

Can I change the maximum size from 510KB using Key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem
Value: Max Extended Rule Size? Most of the articles I've found imply that this setting is only for servers older than 2013.

Hi Don Powell,

According to the KB: Outlook error indicates that you are over the Junk E-mail list limit

It mentions that: The Max Extended Rule Size registry value applies only to earlier versions of Exchange Server.

You could try the resolution of step 3 and 4.

Check if the option ‘ Also trust email from my Contacts ’ is enabled, or using the MFCMAPI tool to help troubleshooting.

Hi Don Powell,

I'm afraid that not working in Exchange 2013 and higher versions.

What about referring to this related issue, try clearing some items from the list:

My users have been checking ‘ Also trust email from my Contacts ’ for years and don't want to uncheck it less all of the emails from people that are in their Contacts will start going to Junk. 

Step 3 seems to refer to the same registry setting as Step 1, no?

Is there no way to increase the 510KB limit in Exchange Server 2016?
