In preview version if I paste a file for attachment or move cursor into body area and subject area by pressing tab/shift+tab, the cursor used to disappear. I found that the behavior is reproducible in RTM version as well.
I did report if as bug from feedback options under smiley.

Hi,
Same behavior of hiding cursor when editing message body and pressing Tab+Shift to change the focus occurs in Outlook 2010. It doesn't seem to be a known issue, but a feature when you go into review or edit mode.
The issue of losing cursor when we paste attachments doesn't occur on my computer in both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013. To troubleshoot this issue, try creating a new user account of Windows and then test it with the new account.

I too have not seen this behavior on on Office 2010.
It started happening after I installed Office 2013 and the frequency has reduced after installing RTM version but still happens once a while. I am not aware of any review mode (I did not switch to any other mode in this case at least). Could you point me to a documentation link for the same?

See if the following could be helpful:
Go into the Control Panel, Mouse, Pointer Options.
Disable the option "Hide pointer while typing".
Enable the option "Show location of pointer when I press CTRL key".

Okay. This one, I am aware of.
But as I said originally, I specifically pressed Shirt tab to move to subject line area from body area or pasted an attachment.

It seems like the message is still being typed when you press shortcut keys to swtich the focus.
But the behavior doesn't occur on my computer. Can you test it on a fresh installed computer?

What I understand is that you are talking about hiding of pointer while one is typing the message.
What I am talking about is the cursor that is getting lost.
