Form created in Word 2010 that requires signatures does not allow you to sign the form in Word 2013

Hi,

I we have a few forms that were create in Word 2010 that require 2 signatures when completed. Once the 2nd signature is entered the form is locked from further editing. This works great in older version 2007 and 2010 but when we open these forms in 2013 the prompt at the top of the form to "View Signatures' never appears. The only way I can get the option to sign the form in 2013 is to remove the Restricted Editing using our password leaving the form to be fully edited which is something we don't want.

Any ideas how I can have our features on the 2010 form carry over to 2013?

Cheers

I was able to get the signatures to work by changing the Protection Settings.

  1. Go to the Review tab and click the Restrict Editing button. Enter the password to unlock the document.
  2. Now in the Right pane for option "1.Formatting restrictions" I checked and set with the defaults.
  3. For option "2.Editing restrictions" I checked "Allow only this type of editing in the document" and selected "No changes (Read only)" from the drop down.
  4. Under the "Exceptions" I then selected an area on the form I wanted people to edit and the checked the "Everyone" box. I repeated this until all the editable fields had been selected including the Signature areas.
  5. I turned the Protection Setting back on.
  6. Double clicking a Signature area now prompts for a signature to be entered and the document is locked for editing afterwards.

Which Microsoft account do you logon when launch Word. Change another live account to check the result.

By the way, are you using Digital ID in your document? Have you tried to add the Digital Signature in Word 2013? (File > Info > Protect the Document > Add a Digital Signature )

More details would be helpful.

Does anyone have any insight into why the I have to change form like I did to get the signatures to work in Word 2013?
