Manage bitlocker in windows 10 will not start

Question

Hi,

I have surface pro w/ 64 bit windows pro. I had bitlocker on it before, but after resetting my Surface Pro, the bitlocker does not work. I click on it, but no response.

TPM is listed as ready to use.

How do I get bitlocker to start/run/launch?

The dos command works. But the hard drive icon still does NOT show bitlocker activated.

found another way to make bitlocker working as it should be.

Uninstall AVG or specifically, it's PC Tuneup component.

Bitlocker now works perfectly as before, after I uninstall AVG's PC Tuneup component. Now, even the bitlocker icons are turned on.

Hi.

"Resetting"? You mean refreshing?

After a refresh, I have to admit I don't know what happens to encrypted drives, would have to try myself.

Please right click on c: and there again select "manage bitlocker".

If again nothing happens, please open an elevated command prompt (right click cmd.exe and select "run as administrator") and enter the command:

manage-bde -status c:

and quote the output.

Hi,

I reset & reinstall my windows on my Surface Pro. The hard drive is re installed. so the drive is no longer encrypted. now I want to encrypt the drive again. but the bitlocker option is not showing up in the control panel. Right click no longer show the bitlocker option. It did before I reset my Surface Pro. I did find it w/ Start Search, but the Manage Bitlocker it pulls up will not start.

Use the command line to encrypt.

manage-bde -on c: -rp

the dos command bitlocker seems to work. but there is no verification on the Windows Explorer. It still shows the regular drive Icon. No padlock bitlocker icon on the disc is seen.

But checking manage-bde -status says the disk is now encrypted.

thankx

Hi the-emperor,

What is your current situation?

Have you restarted the machine to check out the explorer status?

In addition, contact the surface support and see what they could help here:
