Microsoft Date and Time picker not working in Excell 365 Pro Plus

Question

Tuesday, April 7, 2020 8:11 AM

Hi all,

I have got a new pc at work with (probably) other version of Office (365 Pro Plus), and, in older excell sheets I have created I am not able any more to see Date and Time picker in Developer tab. It is not even showing there.

Can I somehow add it, or, is there other way around to use it? How can I see with this version of Excell date and time picker in older sheets already created?

Thanks for any tips!

Miro

Hi Miro,

As far as I know, Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control 6.0 is an old control and it has been removed from Office since Office 2016. Although you can register the calendar control for Windows 64 bit, it will work for Office 32 bit only. Even if you add a reference to mscomct2.ocx/mscal.ocx in Excel 64 bit, it will still return the "Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine" error. For more information, you can read the 3rd-party article: How to create calendar in Excel (drop-down and printable).

Based on my tests, I created a date control in Excel 2010 and save it. Then, I could open it in Excel 2016 and Office 2019(VL, 32-bit edition) and pick a date to update the control. However, I found that it didn't work in Excel for Office 365 and 64-bit version of Office 2016/2019. I couldn't pick dates at all.

If you want use date picker, you can get add-ins from Office store:

Hope the information was helpful. Any updates, feel free to post back to let us know.

Best Regards,

Herb
