Hello,

I'm trying to install Visual Studio Professional 2015, but I have run into an issue. The installer will quickly close with no response.

I added a "-log flag" and have received this output below:

Searching up the error code 0x80070003 led me to some information about Windows Update not working, but I have not found a solution that would fix this issue yet, especially for a Visual Studio installation-related issue like mine.

If somebody can please help me understand what could be going wrong and how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for your detail information.

According to the error message, please go to Control Panel-Uninstall a program-Turn Windows features on or off and check the .NET Framework 3.5 to install. If you already checked it, please uncheck it, restart the computer and check it to re-install .NET Framework 3.5, then check this issue again.

The error code 0x80070003 usually relates to Windows Update, please have a try the following steps:

Press Win+R to open the Run and enter services.msc.
Find the Windows Update service item, right click and select Disable.
Open c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution and delete the files in the "DataStore" and "Download" folders. (backup them firstly)
Repeat the first step to restart the Windows Update service.

Meanwhile, you can try to download the Visual Studio Professional 2015 with Update 3, sign in with your Microsoft account, freely join the Dev Essentials to download it to install.

Before the installation, please make sure all pending windows updates are installed, clean up %temp% folder, temporarily disable any antivirus software and run the installer as administrator.

If this issue persists, I need your help to collect the installation log files. Download collect.exe from the link https://aka.ms/vscollect and go to %TEMP% find the file vslogs.zip, upload to https://onedrive.live.com and share the link in here.

Thank you for the response, as an update, I managed to get past the Windows Update issue by following this article:

I have run into another issue with the installer crashing still, and have uploaded the logs to here:

My set-up may be missing a few parts, so if I could get pointers on how to restore it so that PresentationCore, Version=3.0.0.0 can be found, I would appreciate it greatly.
