How to get Remote Access Management tools to windows 10?

Question

Thursday, December 20, 2018 9:44 AM

Hi,

The new Windows 10 causes some grey hairs...

Tried to get the Remote Access Tools installed and I already success to run the following:

C:\dism /online /add-package /packagepath:d:\Microsoft-Windows-RemoteAccess-Management-Tools-FoD-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~wow64~en-US~.cab

And I can see it is there:

Package Identity : Microsoft-Windows-RemoteAccess-Management-Tools-FoD-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~10.0.17763.1
State : Installed
Release Type : OnDemand Pack
Install Time : 20.12.2018 9:13

But what is the next step? How to get the tools visible? Previously that was visible on here: "Windows\System32\OptionalFeatures.exe" but not anymore?

Petri

Hi,

After installing Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10, the Administrative Tools folder is displayed on the Start menu. You can access the tools from the following locations.

- The Tools menu in the Server Manager console.

- Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools.

- A shortcut saved to the desktop from the Administrative Tools folder (to do this, right click the Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools link, and then click Create Shortcut).

For more information, you can read the official document:

Hi,

Failover cluster is a feature on Windows Server. You could add AD to Windows 10 by the way in the following link, and adding Hyper-V is the same method:

https://www.technipages.com/windows-install-active-directory-users-and-computers

Note: This is a third-party link and we do not have any guarantees on this website. And Microsoft does not make any guarantees about the content.

Hope these are helpful.

Hi,

Unfortunately not really. When I got to the "Add a feature" as you guided, I end up to "No features to install". When run the "Windows\System32\OptionalFeatures.exe" I can see on the list "Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services" and Hyper-V, but AD part seems to be not available still..

I must have step over some step earlier :-o
